Sunday’s Manager: Colt Rosensweig

Noted Babe Ruth grudger to be fan manager on Sunday

Chosen for her stellar top-of-the-charts Ballermetrics numbers, B’s superfan and Big Black Service Dogs canine companion celebrity Colt Rosensweig will manage the Ballers on Sunday for the regular season finale (with some help from Aaron Miles). Check out a fantastic interview with Colt from Janie McCauley of the AP first. Dispatches also caught up with Colt briefly during Friday’s game to see what the rest of us regular fans can expect.

What's your managerial philosophy?

If I could do whatever I wanted—and I can't do whatever I want because we have to actually play people—I would just be like, who loves the dogs the most? You're playing. You're starting.
But I'm not going to do that because that's not fair. But that's where my brain goes. No—Whatever Aaron says, we're going with.

What is your favorite kind of baseball to watch?

Oh, pitchers duel! Small ball, scientific baseball, bunting, stealing, all that stuff.
Sacrifices. Low scoring game, good pitching.

Why are you a baseball fan who likes that stuff?

Because I am a purist. I have a weird, bizarre grudge against Babe Ruth for making the home run such a thing because I would take a triple over a homer any day of the week. That's exciting.
